Your questions about the support
Frequently asked questions
The format, the rhythm, payment, confidentiality: the answers to the questions most often asked before a first appointment. For anything else, write to us, in English if you are enquiring for someone close to you.
What is Accès Psy UK?
Accès Psy UK is an initiative founded by Anaïs Leneau, a psychopractitioner holding the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP): professional psychological support in French, quickly accessible and reasonably priced, for French speakers living in the United Kingdom. Sessions last 30 minutes, take place online, at £50 or €58, weekly or fortnightly, so that people can take care of their mental health before difficulties set in.
Who is Accès Psy UK for?
Every French speaker in the UK who wants professional support in French, quickly accessible, concrete, easy to fit into everyday life and reasonably priced: students, working professionals, long-term expats, parents. This English version is here so that loved ones can learn about the initiative.
Is 30 minutes really enough?
A 30-minute session is compact and complete: it goes straight to the point. Solution-focused therapy and strategic therapy, in which the practitioners of the initiative are trained, are built for this tempo and make every minute count. Regularity creates depth: half an hour every week or fortnight sustains continuous movement. Whenever a situation calls for more time, the classic 50-minute format remains available.
How often do sessions take place?
Accès Psy UK sessions take place weekly or fortnightly, depending on your needs, goals and possibilities. You remain free to adjust the rhythm of your sessions at any time, with no long-term commitment.
What happens in the first session?
The first session can last from 30 to 55 minutes, depending on the time needed to understand your situation, your request and your needs. Its fee remains £50 or €58, whatever its length. The sessions that follow last 30 minutes, with the same professional.
How much does a session cost?
Each session costs £50 or €58, your choice, including the first one. Over four weeks, that represents £100 or €116 for a fortnightly appointment, £200 or €232 for a weekly one: a budget known in advance, which stays under your control.
Can I pay in euros or in pounds?
An Accès Psy UK session lasts 30 minutes and costs £50 or €58. To make payment easier from the UK as well as from France, you can choose whichever currency suits you best. Payment is made by Revolut or bank transfer, at the end of each session. An invoice can be provided on request.
Can sessions be paid for from France?
Yes, payment can be made in euros or in pounds, by the person attending or, with their agreement, by a relative. The fee is €58 or £50 per session.
How much does therapy usually cost in London?
UK therapy guides commonly place a private session in London between £80 and £250, higher still in central London, for 45 to 50 minutes. Accès Psy UK has made a different choice of format: a focused 30-minute session, with a qualified professional, at £50 or €58, so that regular support finds its place in an ordinary budget.
Can I have my sessions in French if I live outside London?
Yes. Sessions take place by secure videoconference, London time, wherever you live in the UK: Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Bristol or a village in Kent. Accès Psy UK was designed for the whole country: 30-minute sessions in French, £50 or €58, weekly or fortnightly.
I am worried about someone close to me: what can I do?
You are welcome to write to Accès Psy UK to understand how the support works and ask your questions. The therapeutic step itself belongs to the person concerned, at their own pace; passing on the information is often the most helpful gesture. Sessions are held in French; this English version is here precisely so you can understand the initiative and pass it on.
Are the sessions held in English?
Accès Psy UK sessions are held in French: it is the working language of the initiative. This website is available in English so that English-speaking partners, friends and colleagues can understand how it works and suggest it to French speakers around them. You are welcome to send your questions in English.
What about the NHS?
NHS Talking Therapies are free at the point of use and you can refer yourself in most areas. Accès Psy UK offers what a private, independent format adds: your own language, a practitioner who works with you personally over time, a rhythm you choose, and a first session arranged promptly after your request.
Psychologist, psychotherapist, psychopractitioner: who should I see?
In France, the titles of psychologist and psychotherapist are protected and regulated by the State. A psychopractitioner practises non-medical psychotherapy, and their seriousness is verified through certifications and supervision. Accès Psy UK was founded by Anaïs Leneau, holder of the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP), delivered by the FF2P and recognised by the European Association for Psychotherapy: theoretical, clinical and didactic training, ongoing supervision. If UK registers such as BACP or UKCP are your usual reference points, the ECP is the European-level counterpart. What matters most lies in the relationship: a safe framework, trained listening, supervised practice.
Why is the number of places limited?
Accessibility is built in service of quality. The number of places is deliberately limited to guarantee genuine availability, attentive listening and personalised support.
How do I request an appointment?
Fill in the form on the Request an appointment page: briefly present your request, with your availability, London time. It is reviewed in strict confidence, and you receive a reply within 24 working hours to arrange the first session. If no place is free, you can join the waiting list.
One important note. Accès Psy UK supports regular therapeutic work. If you are in acute distress, in the UK, Samaritans answer day and night on 116 123; in France, the national suicide prevention line is 3114. If your situation calls for medical or psychiatric care, your GP or NHS 111 are the right contacts.
The full course of the support, step by step, is set out on the How it works page; the initiative and its founder are presented on the About page.
